James resides in New Jersey which isn't as bad of a state contrary to what you might hear. During his time at the con, he had the opportunity to meet various developers and industry icons. He also had the privilege of attending Pax East 2022 for the company as a content creator. There he primarily covers mobile games such as Dragon Ball Legends, which he may or may not have an unhealthy addiction to. Since 2020, James has been uploading content about gaming through a YouTube channel called 59 Gaming as a writer and content creator under the alias Ironcane. Multiplayer with the newly revamped gameplay would’ve been a sight to behold, but for now, fans can only wonder what it would have been like if Santa Monica Studios didn’t try it out years ago. God of War Ragnarok concludes a fantastic saga, and players will always yearn for more content. Regardless of Santa Monica Studio's decision to pursue multiplayer again, it's clear that God of War isn’t going away anytime soon with the success of its latest entries. Though, with Ascension’s multiplayer launching nearly a decade ago, players eager for more God of War multiplayer shouldn’t hold their breath. If Santa Monica adopts this strategy its possible fans could see a standalone multiplayer expansion in the future. When the Last of Us Part 2 released without it many were disappointed, but the developer promised that instead of including multiplayer in TLOU Part 2, it would instead make its multiplayer mode a separate game. The Last of Us was one of the few single player games with a surprisingly good multiplayer mode. It may seem like God of War will never attempt to do multiplayer again, but if Santa Monica Studio follows in Naughty Dog’s footsteps, there could be a chance. Although the latest installments have moved away from multiplayer to focus on giving players an immersive campaign, it's not impossible to see a multiplayer mode down the line.

This of course was solved when the franchise made its triumphant return with 2018’s God of War. With the soft reboot of God of War being one of the long-awaited gaming sequels released in 2018 alongside The Last of Us Part 2 and Red Dead Redemption 2, it's possible players were less intrigued with another prequel for GoW and were more fascinated where the games could take Kratos next. Combining this with minimal innovation to the reused combat system and a lackluster story, Ascension ended up being a pretty forgettable installment for the series. This may be partly due to the fact that the game was released a few months before the release of the PS4. According to VGChartz, out of all the GoW games released on console (not including collections) Ascension sold the worst. God of War: Ascension’s overall performance may have turned Santa Monica Studio off to the idea of doing multiplayer again. The more mechanically interesting gameplay style from Ragnarok may have helped Ascension’s multiplayer, but the title did suffer from other issues. Players would need to plan each attack carefully and outsmart their opponents while utilizing any abilities at their disposal. If it were implemented in multiplayer, users could expect battles to be similar to Ubisoft’s For Honor franchise. 2018's God of War and Ragnarok moved away from the franchise’s traditional hack-and-slash elements to make its gameplay more methodical with less button mashing. It's a style that fans have been accustomed to for years, but it may not have been the best choice when trying to break out a new, unique multiplayer experience. When God of War: Ascension was released in 2013, it was the sixth GoW title to feature its trademark hack-and-slash gameplay. After a long hiatus, fans welcomed Kratos back in 2018's God of War, which had players control the Ghost of Sparta in a brand-new way.
